Book Making Bonanza
Randolph College’s interdisciplinary museum and heritage studies program inspired a collaboration between Lipscomb Library and the Maier Museum of Art in response to the museum’s 112th Annual Exhibition, Back to Front: Artists’ Books by Women.
Lipscomb Library EXHIBITION:
The Lipscomb Library will have an exhibition of BANNED BOOKS and an exhibition of BOOKS AS ART on display from their collection on view October 3 through December 15, 2023, in the north wing of the library. Exhibition and Book Making Bonanza events are FREE and open to the general public. Join us if you love books and LET FREEDOM READ!

Book Making Bonanza: Paper Engineered Books

Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 11 am – 2 pm
Join Lipscomb Library and Maier Museum staff, volunteers, and student club FRAME members to:
- Create a unique one-page book to add to the Maier’s 112th Annual Exhibition, Back to Front: Artists’ Books by Women.
- Make paper-engineered books inspired by the Annual Exhibition.
- Contribute to a collaborative mixed media accordion book that celebrates what we love about banned books.
No art skills needed. All supplies provided.
FREE and open to the Randolph College community and general public.
Book Making Bonanza: Banned Books Edition
Lipscomb Library, North Wing
Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 11 am – 2 pm
During Banned Book Week participants joined Lipscomb Library and Maier Museum staff, volunteers, and student club FRAME members to:
- Assemble one-page art books from the Quarantine Public Library to be displayed at the Maier Museum during the upcoming 112th Annual Exhibition.
- Turn old books into art: collaborative to create an accordion folded book featuring blackout poetry and celebrating what we love most about banned books.
