Art Saturday for High School Students: RagGonNons: Mixed Media Paintings by Aminah Robinson

December 4, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

THIS WORKSHOP IS FULL!

American artist Aminah Robinson incorporated scraps of cloth, found objects, shells, and other non-conventional materials like neckties into her artwork. She coined the term “RagGonNons” to describe her mixed media paintings because she felt art making was a never-ending activity.  She continually added to old works, and believed that each person who views the work has something unique to add. We will discuss how Robinson honored her community through art. Then, you will make a RagGonNon using unconventional materials.

Aminah Robinson’s work is featured in the 110th Annual Exhibition of Contemporary Art, Storytellers: Faith Ringgold + Aminah Robinson, on view October 1, 2021 – April 1, 2022.

Limit 12
All participants must wear masks while inside the museum. No exceptions.
Museum doors open at 9:45 am
