Traditional Monacan Honeysuckle Basket Weaving Workshop

Join us for a unique opportunity to learn the traditional art of Monacan Honeysuckle Basket Weaving in this hands-on workshop led by Bertie Branham, Elder of the Monacan Nation, and Lou Branham, Assistant Chief, and director of the Monacan Nation Ancestral Museum. Participants will work with freshly harvested honeysuckle from Amherst County to create their own baskets while gaining insight into the history and cultural significance of this traditional craft, which continues to be made today. This inaugural workshop is part of a new series honoring Monacan Cultural Traditions. Don’t miss this chance to experience the artistry and heritage of the Monacan Nation. FREE but registration is required to make a basket. Seats are limited.

Members of the public are welcome to observe the workshop even if they do not make a basket.
