Also known as Freedom Day, Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 that the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free — two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Randolph College is closed Friday, June 18 in observance of Juneteenth.

The Maier is closed Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19 in observance of the holiday.
