For-Credit Internship Opportunity
ONGOING FOR-CREDIT INTERNSHIPS AT THE MAIER MUSEUM OF ART
MUSEUM MARKETING INTERNSHIP
We are excited to offer an ongoing for-credit internship at the Maier Museum of Art focused on Museum Marketing during the academic year.
DETAILS:
.5 Credit per session = 3 Hours per Week
The goal of this internship is to increase engagement on the Maier Museum of Art social media platforms and create awareness of the museum’s initiatives and programs as well as promoting the museum and heritage studies program. This internship would allow a student to gain experience in social media marketing, community outreach, and graphic design.
Responsibilities of this internship include:
- Support the Museum’s digital storytelling and marketing efforts by generating new ideas for the Museum’s website and social media platforms.
- Pitch ideas for videos, images, graphics, content and copy.
- Capture video and still images for use in creating shareable multimedia stories for the Museum’s virtual presence.
Recommended Experience & Skills:
- Experience with creating content for various social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok – especially short-form videos
- Experience using graphic design tools such as CapCut, Canva
Skills (interest and/or experience in the following):
- Interest in and/or background/knowledge in social media and web management, marketing, public relations, and/or journalism.
- Strong writer and creative thinker.
- Social media marketing/posts on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and/or YouTube
- Create and edit short, visually-striking, sharable multimedia stories for various platforms, especially short videos for the Museum’s YouTube channel and virtual presence.
- Use of design tools such as CapCut, ClipChamp, Canva, etc.
- Must be proactive and be able to work independently with minimal direction
Preferred but NOT required:
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and G-Suite.
- Previous experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) and with social media management platforms.
- Assist with clipping, resizing, recutting, and otherwise optimizing images, graphics, and video for the web.
