Summer Internship Opportunities
2024 PAID SUMMER INTERNSHIPS AT THE MAIER MUSEUM OF ART
We are excited to offer three paid summer internships this summer.
DETAILS:
$2,500 Stipend
10 weeks, 25 hours/week (or 250 hours)
On-campus housing available
Academic credit optional.
Eligibility – Randolph College rising sophomores, juniors & seniors / Students graduating in 2024

ARCHIVES ASSISTANT
Work with Maier Director and Registrar to inventory and organize archival documents related to the history of the College’s world-class collection of American art. Tasks may include:
- Create spread sheets to summarize materials in the archives.
- Digitize original documents.
- Make spreadsheets and documents available online.
Requirements:
- Interest in art, history, and/or archives.
- Knowledge of and/or interest in art generally and specifically in the Maier Museum of Art collection.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, and Excel).
EDUCATION ASSISTANT
Work with Maier Curator of Education to plan and manage a summer art camp for students in grades 4-8. The camp is taking place at the Maier and on the campus of Randolph College July 29 – August 2, 2024. The start date for this internship is negotiable but the education assistant must be available to work July 15 – August 7, 2024. Tasks may include:
- Assist in creating in-gallery tour materials
- Assist with museum camp tours, including set up
- Prepare supplies and materials for studio component
- Set up/clean up of studio spaces
- Assist with studio activities, including classroom management
- Maintain daily camp attendance
- Assist with and interact with campers during daily camp lunch time
- Assist with creation of end of camp art exhibition
- Learn object-based museum education practices and facilitate at least one in-gallery discussion with campers
Requirements:
- Experience working with children in camp or group setting
- Energetic, proactive, willing to pitch in as needed
- Creative thinker
- Interest in art/art history and museums and/or education
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational skills a plus.
- Experience working with art materials a plus
MARKETING ASSISTANT
Work with the Maier Museum’s Administrative Manager to support the Museum’s digital storytelling and marketing efforts. Tasks may include:
- Generate new ideas for the Museum’s social media communications calendar across all social platforms.
- Update and maintain the social media communications calendar.
- Assist with managing, curating, and pitching ideas for videos, images, graphics, content, and copy for social media platforms [Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube].
- Film, photograph, edit, and create short, visually striking, sharable multimedia stories for various platforms, especially short videos.
- Assist with clipping, resizing, recutting, and otherwise optimizing images, graphics, and video for each platform and the Museum’s website.
- Assist with various tasks related to the redesign of the museum’s website.
Requirements:
- Interest in and/or background/knowledge in social media and web content management, marketing, public relations, journalism, art history, and/or museum operations.
- Knowledge of and/or interest in art generally and specifically in the Maier Museum of Art collection.
- Strong writer and creative thinker.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and G-Suite.
Preferred but NOT required:
- Previous experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), CapCut, Canva, and/or with social media management platforms.
