– before we were we –
we slept within our
separate selves – small

moments – not looking for –
not thinking toward –certain

as an instant – content –
delighting – golden pools
of thought that swelled — that

sparked sometimes upon
wind – words – and light –

Steve Wilson’s poetry has appeared in journals and anthologies nationwide; as well as in six collections, the most recent entitled Complicity (2023). He lives in San Marcos, TX.
