The Fine Arts Committee of Legacy Museum of African American History presents

Legacy: Celebrating African American Creativity in Central Virginia Through Art

Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of The Legacy Museum of African American History, the Daura Museum of Art at the University of Lynchburg and the Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College will partner to host a joint exhibition, January 25 – February 28, 2025. This exhibition will run simultaneously at both locations.

OPENING RECEPTION:

CALL FOR ARTISTS! 
Original artwork by or about African Americans is sought in all mediums from local artists of all ages and abilities. All pieces must be for sale, and 50% of sales will be donated to The Legacy Museum of African American History.

Artists, to indicate participation, please complete form by the December 31, 2024, deadline.

Details: 

• Original artwork must be by or about African Americans.
• A maximum of three pieces may be submitted.
• All artwork must be labeled on the back with artist name, title of work, medium, price, and contact information.
• If orientation of the artwork is not obvious, please indicate on the back of the work.
• Artwork must be dry and ready to display.
• Two-dimensional artwork on canvas must have a hanging wire or device securely attached on the back.
• Matting or a backing board is recommended for works on paper.
• Three-dimensional artwork must be stable and able to stand on a pedestal.
• Entries are subject to the discretion of The Fine Arts Committee.
• Artwork(s) must be delivered to the Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College January 8 – 11 between the hours of 1 – 5 pm.
• When artists deliver their artwork(s), a receipt will be provided which must be signed by the artist and/or their parent/guardian.
