Museum Policies
Safety of Art Objects
- Visitors are not permitted to touch any of the works of art.
Even the slightest fingerprint contains harmful and destructive chemicals that could damage the art.
- No pens may be used in the galleries.
Pencils are available for visitor use, located in cubbie area.
- Foods, drinks, gum, umbrellas, packages and backpacks are not permitted.
Please leave these items in the coat closet or a cubbie.
- Backpack-style child carriers are not permitted.
Please leave in the coat closet or a cubbie.
- Strollers are permitted.
However, please be conscious of tight spaces and keep strollers a safe distance away from the artwork.
- Do not leave children unattended.
Sketching/Writing
- Painting is not permitted.
- Sketching and writing are permitted, however the following conditions apply:
- Only pencils, graphite pencils (not sticks), and colored pencils may be used.
- Drawing boards and pads must be no larger than 18”x 24”.
- Materials must be hand-carried; toolboxes, knapsacks, and easels are not permitted.
- Gallery stools are available, please ask the security guard or receptionist to borrow one while in the Museum.
Photography
Photography and videography are permitted in the Museum, however the following conditions apply:
- No tripods.
- No flash, use existing light only.
- Photos/images must be for personal use only.
For publications or commercial use of images of works in the Randolph College collection, please submit an Image Reproduction Request Form or email museum@randolphcollege.edu for more information.
- Photography and videography are sometimes restricted in special exhibition galleries. Please ask the receptionist or security guard for clarification.
