Dr. Kat Owens, a plastic pollution researcher, artist, and activist, will discuss Entangled and Ingested, a series of life-sized portraits of animals harmed by marine plastic pollution hand sewn from plastic debris. Owens’ work merges science, policy, and the arts. She is a National Geographic Explorer, a Fulbright Nehru fellow, and a Professor at the University of Hartford in Connecticut. This program is held in collaboration with the environmental science and studies and marine science program.
