the shape of absence began with a phrase and a boy. Weeks of emotional trauma and rumination culminated in an artist’s book describing the painful process of the end of a relationship.
BIOGRAPHY
Lisa Hasegawa is primarily a letterpress printer creating artist’s books and prints under the imprint ilfant press. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Book Arts/Printmaking from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the University of Washington. Lisa teaches letterpress and bookmaking classes in Seattle. Her work has been exhibited nationally and has received several awards; including a Grant for Artist Projects (GAP) from Artist Trust and Printmaking Instructor of the Year from Pratt Fine Arts Center. Her artist’s books and prints are collected nationally in both public and private collections.
